                                                    Sacred Friendship…….

I talk to all the people but I don’t make them my friends easily, I have many people around me but few are close to me and they  know the real ‘ME’. They know my rights and wrong and I allow only few people to shout at me and only my best friends are allowed to do so apart mom. Having a best friend is like a rare treasure and it sure is sacred.

Let me tell about my friends now. They are exactly like me little crazy, little matured and little bit of drama too, too humorous and patient listener’s  and what they say makes sense to me when I am totally down. I rely on their insights sometimes, well most of the times and its vice versa.

Radhika, I met her when I was In class 6. She is very warm person and very down to earth and that’s the best thing I like about her, no attitude what so ever. Our friendship is unspoken, and she can understand my long period of silence and when we speak its like the old times. From her I have learnt that we should not give up no matter what. She is very artistic and I still have her all the handmade cards and her soft toy she made for me. Even she has her ups and downs in life but she does not give up. I rarely tell her that I love her a lot and she means a lot to me, she was there for me all the time but I guess I was not a good friend to her off late. But no one can take her place in my life no matter what happens. “"The best mirror is an old friend."”

Vishwa, I met this out spoken gal in my PG, at first she seemed a little strange, I usually don’t talk to married people I keep an arm distance but the moment she started talking we hit it off. She is vibrant, again zero attitude, funny, matured and a wonderful cook, artistic and she is a replica of me in some way. We have become partners in crime now. We always find something to eat and best thing is we end up cracking jokes even in tensed times, when everyone is tensed, we only smile and talk to ease our tension, and many people take in wrong way. We cope up differently I guess. She is funny and we do the best shopping and window shopping. We hang around a lot. She has also become my best friend; we have songs and jokes for every mood. My PG would have been sad and boring if not for her and now we have turned up to be best friends. And I must say she will win any competition which includes sleeping. She has a gift where she can sleep anytime. And that is not a luxury to me as I am an insomanic.

Sai and Mary, well they are my childhood friends and Sai is only the guy friend I have as a best friend and they both know the whole story of my life till date, Mary had supported me all the while in my hardest time and Sai had given his wonderful harshest comment when I need one. Mary and me have done lot of silly things as children, we even got punished for few things and we made so many plans and some of them are still on. Mary had been in hard times and I get scared if she does something to her given her history. She is like a sister to me. Emotionally and physically I found her to be with me all the time, and I am never ashamed to cry in front of her,  so did sai he was there to listen to my whining, but always there to cheer me up when I am down. He knows how to make things light and we end up laughing even on serious matter, and I love the way they both comment, too frank and direct and in the end we smile and laugh. People find them weird, they are not to me, its circumstances that had made them like that. We three have done lot of crazy stuff together.

Pallabi de, well she gradually took up the role of my mother when my mom left to pune on transfer. She is like a family to me, she had cooked for me, took me to a doctor when I was not well, she was like a mother to me. I love spending time with her and Mary and I had spent lot of time with her. She becomes protective of me, shouts and scolds but it’s for my good. That’s why I call her, Mommy. I love her no matter and regardless of what people say I know her and I will support her.

I definitely won’t take a word against them and I can fight for them regardless of who the person is. My friends had their own share of past’s and I respect that and I love them for who they are.  Everyone are surrounded by people who call themselves as ‘Friends’ but can speak to none when they need one and I am lucky in this way that I have friends I turn to and rest be assured that they are good at keeping their words.  My friends rely on me and I do the same in good and bad times.

“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.” Henri J.M. Nouwen,  very truly said my friends are exactly like this, and they are my one of my achievement’s.
